RSD or CRPS as it is also known is one of the most common diseases that have attacked millions of people all over the world. A recent survey has revealed that around one hundred thousand persons in United States alone are attacked by the Complex Regional Pain Syndrome and the number is always on the growth.

The part of the body that are most affected by RSD are hands and the wrist, foot, ankle, or knee. However, it could spread to other parts as well and at times a whole limb could also be affected.

History of RSD Treatment reveals that if someone suffers from only mild RSD, the symptoms can settle quickly without any specific treatment. However, in server cases, RSD could last for months together causing intense pain and burning sensation for the patient.

After long drawn research and analysis, medical scientists have come to the conclusion that RSD or Causalgia can be broadly classified into four types. The first type which is mild, would last for about one to three months. The next one a little more intense would last for three to six months. The third and fourth type that the patients rarely suffer from could last for indefinite period.

One more interesting feature of RSD is that women are more affected than man by this syndrome. Again, the affect is almost symmetrical for economically backward and affluent countries.
