Apple had released the iPod nano in two generations, the first of the kind was released in September 2005 and the second of the kind was launched exactly after one year in September 2006. But both these versions totally differed from other models as they used flash memory for storing Medias unlike internal hard drive as in other models.

The key feature of the iPod nano being its size which was more smaller and measured 3.5 inches in length, 1.6 inches in width and 0.27 inches in height making it a unique iPods till date by then. The weight of the iPod nano was just 42 grams, which was not imaginable. The iPod nano cases was interesting attraction.

The color display of the iPod nano had 176 x 132 pixels and a diagonal of 1.5 inches. The battery life after a single charge of battery of the nano released in sep 2005 goes up to 14 hours where as the battery back up of the nano released in sep 2006 goes up to 14 to 24 hours.

Another difference among the fifth generation Nanos is that the storage capacity of the first has 2 and 4 GB where as the second Nano has 2Gb, 4Gb and 8GB. The both nanos have multiple clock zones and a stopwatch.
